Blinky blinky
If you've just purchased an AirPort Express -- and 80,000 people just did -- you might wonder why Apple has chosen to only indicate status sparingly on its orange/green LED. The light is orange and blinks a bit during power up, but stays green while the unit is active.
You can change this via an obscure setting. Run AirPort Admin Utility. Connect to the AirPort Express. Click Base Station Options. At the bottom, you'll find a checkbox that allows you to have the Express flash with activity.
Neat, huh? Unless you have the Express in a room in which the blinking is irritating. I've been woken many a time in the middle of the night in a hotel with the glowing PowerBook sleep light. The Express doesn't have an off button on that status light, by the way, but some white-out might work.
