Nice article. I'll store its existence away in the back of my mind.
Also, next time I am looking to get a memory card, I'll get a lexar,
even if it costs $20 more.

A tool I've used successfully a couple of times is PhotoRec
(donationware from cgsecurity.org).
It doesn't have a GUI, and its command line/ TTY interface is quirky,
but it does do the job well.
