Recalling the name of an old Mac program
Guest User
I have been wracking my brain trying to recall the name of an old Mac utility, as I recall, circa 1993, maybe earlier, that only serious old Macophiles such as we might remember. Maybe one or more of you can be more successful than I. I can remember much about it, but not the name or other relevant details. I wonder if anyone has done an update to allow it to run on modern hardware and on a recent OS. It was on several floppies, of course. It may have been a calendar/reminder utility, but its most outstanding and unique characteristic were visuals. I think I can recall that it would provide reminders of calendar events for the user, but it was those visuals that made it so special. The screen featured seasonally adjusted, accurate and slowly moving and changing images of scenes that evolved throughout the seasons and throughout the year. Lighting of the scenes was determined by the actual time of day. For example, in the winter time, there was the front of a home and, as it neared Christmas, snow could be seen gently falling and accumulating on the ground and on the house itself. As each day progressed, sunlight faded and darkness ensued. The home's inside lights would come on as seen through the windows. Smoke would curl from the chimney at night and, perhaps, even Christmas lights would be hung and twinkle on the house. This last point about Christmas lights may be an incorrect recollection. There were no people in the scenes. I think I can also recall a lighted Christmas tree as seen through the broad living room faceted window, with lights and tinsel on the tree and with wrapped gifts around its base. I think that during summer months there may have been beach-related scenes. Perhaps in the fall, there may have been visual references to Halloween and Thanksgiving. This utility was so unique and detailed and I just cannot get it out of my mind, though I cannot recall its name. I recall that the maker sent it to me for evaluation, but I just cannot find records of it and, of course, cannot recall the name or other details. Does anything ring a bell with any of you, or with those in your sphere? Thank you for any assistance or direction you may provide. With best regards, Steve
