Autographed Spam Drawing Rules

  1. No purchase is necessary to enter, although donating to a worthy charity or helping other human beings may improve your odds. By participating, you agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of TidBITS.

  2. This drawing is open to anyone 18 years and older except TidBITS and Hormel employees and their families, save residents of the state of Florida, United States, who are automatically enrolled when they successfully register for AppleCare, regardless of their age or employment status. One entry per person. Any use of automated entry methods will void all such entries made by such methods.

  3. To enter the drawing, you must correctly complete the online entry form above and pretend you've never heard of Richard Simmons.

  4. TidBITS collects personal information from you when you enter. This information will be used solely for the operation of the drawing and, other than the winners' information, will not be shared with third parties. All information collected is covered by the TidBITS privacy policy. TidBITS reserves the right to publish the name of the winners without additional permission.

  5. One winner will receive an can of Regular Spam, autographed by Adam C. Engst (retail value U.S. $2.95; collector's value immeasurable.) No alternative prize or cash substitution will be made in place of the specified item, although if you ask really nicely we might be pursuaded to substitute Spam Lite, Spam Low Sodium, or Hot and Spicy Spam. Under no circumstances will Turkey Spam be substituted. All prizes will be awarded. All federal, state, and local taxes, fees, and duties are the responsibility of the prize winners.

  6. The odds of winning primarily depend on the number of eligible entries. The winners will be determined by random drawing from all eligible entries received at the TidBITS Web site between the publication of the issue of TidBITS announcing the drawing and 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) Thursday 01-Apr-2004. All decisions of TidBITS are final and binding. Unless we change our minds. And even then. Nyah.

  7. The winner will be notified by email within 3 business days of the drawing and will be announced in an issue of TidBITS following the start of the drawing. The winners have 10 business days to claim the prize by sending email to TidBITS per instructions provided in the notification. TidBITS is not responsible for and shall not be liable for any late, lost, or misdirected notification, meteor showers, or for winners' unsuccessful efforts to claim any prize. Watch your spam filters! If TidBITS cannot contact the winners or if winners prove to be ineligible, TidBITS will select alternate winners by random drawing.

  8. In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the winner will be decided by an competitive, timed "eat-off" of past-dated Regular Spam, to be conducted at a time and place of TidBITS's choosing. Disputees may bring their own condiments. In the event of a tie, the entry will be deemed submitted by the person assigned to the winner's email address by the organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the winner's email address's Internet domain. TidBITS reserves the right to disqualify any entrant in violation of these rules.

  9. TidBITS shall not be liable for:
