TidBITS Translations

A large group of much-appreciated volunteers translate TidBITS into a variety of languages.

Chinese - The Chinese translation (Big-5 only, most issues between TidBITS 461 and TidBITS 479; currently on hiatus) is available via the Web. You must be able to view the Chinese character set.

Dutch - The Dutch translation is currently available via the Web and a mailing list.

French - The French translation (most issues between TidBITS 314 and TidBITS 775; currently on hiatus while looking for new translators) is available via the Web.

German - The German translation is available via the Web and a mailing list.

Italian - The Italian translation (some issues between TidBITS 388 and TidBITS 397; currently on hiatus) is available via the Web.

Japanese - The Japanese translation (Kanji) is available via the Web and via a mailing list. You must be able to view the Japanese character set (Shift JIS, aka MS Kanji).

Portuguese - The Portuguese translation (most issues between TidBITS 378 and TidBITS 390; currently on hiatus) is available via the Web.

Russian - The Russian translation (issues between TidBITS 477 and TidBITS 581; currently on hiatus) is available via the Web. You must be able to view the Cyrillic character set.

Spanish - The Spanish translation (issues between TidBITS 315 and TidBITS 395, then again from TidBITS 519 to TidBITS 637; currently on hiatus) is available via the Web.

 

Volunteering - If you're interested in helping translate TidBITS, contact the coordinator of that translation team (listed on the Web page for that language). If you're interested in translating TidBITS into a language not listed here, please contact Adam Engst at ace@tidbits.com. Translations seem to operate most smoothly with at least five translators, one of whom acts as the coordinator. The coordinator generally assigns articles to individual translators and puts translated articles back into a complete issue before posting it.
